EDMOND -- Northeastern State fell to Central Oklahoma 73-67 on Saturday night at Hamilton Field House, dropping to 14-14 overall and 8-11 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play.
The RiverHawks were led by
Trey Phipps, who scored a game-high 23 points, shooting 9-of-19 from the field and adding five rebounds.
Keon Edwards contributed 16 points, including a three-pointer, while
Ethan Blackmon had a strong all-around performance with 10 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.
Central Oklahoma's Jacobi Sebock was dominant, posting a double-double with 25 points and 14 rebounds, while Israel Hart added 12 points and seven steals. The Bronchos capitalized on turnovers, scoring 21 points off Northeastern State's 19 turnovers.
Northeastern State shot 45.8% from the field but struggled from beyond the arc, making just 6-of-21 attempts. Central Oklahoma outscored the RiverHawks 43-40 in the second half to seal the victory.
Despite the loss, the RiverHawks qualified for the upcoming MIAA Tournament for the ninth time and will play as the No. 10 seed with its KPI standing. Northeastern State will see the No. 7 seed Central Missouri on Wednesday at 2:15 p.m. inside Kansas City's Municipal Auditorium.Â
