TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State legged out four hits in a 12-2 loss to Oklahoma Baptist Tuesday night at Rousey Field.
The contest saw NSU (8-10) fall behind with three surrendered runs to the Bison (15-6) in the top of the third. It marked the beginning of four straight frames of OBU scores, which placed the visitors in command for the rest of the way.Â
The NSU bats found brief responses in the form of runs in the third and sixth innings, with a RBI each from
Tanner Almond and
Colton Ayres.
Diego Murillo,
Austin Rees and
Mason Ruiz logged base hits alongside Ayres.Â
On the mound, nine different pitchers saw time in the contests for the hosts.
Holden Yaksick was assessed the loss after allowing the initial go-ahead scores to the Bison in the third.
Murphy Bostick and
Bryce Bond recorded three strikeouts each in the defeat.
NSU resumes conference play on Friday to begin a three-game series against Washburn at 5 p.m. at Rousey Field.
