TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State struggled to generate offense and was shut out by Rogers State, 11-0, in seven innings on Saturday at Rousey Field.
The RiverHawks (6-8, 3-3 MIAA) managed just three hits while committing four errors, allowing the Hillcats (11-2, 3-0 MIAA) to take control early. Rogers State broke the game open with a six-run third inning and added three more runs in the seventh to seal the run-rule victory.
Diego Murillo was the lone bright spot for NSU, going 2-for-3 at the plate. The RiverHawks' only other hit came from
Austin Rees, who singled in the sixth inning.
Starting pitcher
Murphy Bostick (1-1) took the loss, surrendering eight runs—six earned—on seven hits over five innings. He struck out three, walking three, and hitting one batter.
Holden Yaksick pitched the final two innings, allowing three runs on five hits.
Rogers State's Jackson Romero provided the biggest blow with a third-inning grand slam, finishing with four RBI. Luis Fuentes went 3-for-5 with two RBI, while Weston Peninger added three hits and drove in a run.
Hillcats' starter Christopher Spry tossed a complete-game shutout while allowing just three hits and striking out six.
The RiverHawks remain home to host Southeastern Oklahoma at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
