KEARNEY, Neb. — Northeastern State logged a 323 on the opening day of action at the MIAA Championships, ranking eighth with two rounds to go.
Sam Maceli leads NSU individually and is tied for seventh among all participants after finishing with a 77. The strong opening round for the senior was highlighted by a pair of birdies, while she additionally landed eight pars. Maceli is a stroke back of a three-way tie for fourth.
Ines Diaz is inside the top 20 after scoring a 79 on day one. Laia Llorens landed an 83, while the RiverHawks were rounded out individually by Jessica Parker (84) and Fernanda Rendon Bermudez (90).
As a team, the RiverHawks finished fourth in birdies (seven), while their score sits three strokes back from seventh-place Central Oklahoma (320) and six back from the top five. Rogers State leads the field after scoring a 310 on day one, edging out Central Missouri (311).
The MIAA Championships continue with the middle round of action Monday.
