TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State will wrap up a three-game regular season series with Arkansas-Fort Smith by hosting the Lions are Rousey Field Tuesday at 5 p.m.
The RiverHawks (12-27, 9-16 MIAA) most recently dropped two of three matchups in a weekend series with Fort Hays State.
Key Players to Watch:
- Mason Ruiz fell a triple short of the cycle and homered for the fifth time in 2025 last Sunday against Fort Hays State. He now sets his sights on UAFS, a team he has recorded a pair of hits against, including a triple, across the first two games of the regular season series.
- Gage Williams enters the week off of back-to-back two-hit performances against the Tigers last weekend. Williams owns the team lead in home runs (six) and OPS (1.172).
- Izac Sizemore pitched a complete game in Saturday's 6-2 victory over FHSU, striking out seven batters in the process. Sizemore has lasted at least five innings in his last three appearances, with seven strikeouts each in two of those starts.
UAFS (11-27, 6-22 MIAA) enters the week with three straight losses after being dealt a sweep by Missouri Western. The Lions seek a rebound offensively after being held to just six runs across the three-game set against the Griffons. On the season, the team ranks 13th in the MIAA in batting average (.255) and 12th in home runs (24). Cooper White leads the Lions with a .336 batting average, but the senior has been held without a base hit in his last four appearances, going 0-for-11 in that span of time. Noah Davis holds the team lead in home runs with five, but has been held without a hit in five of his last seven appearances.
The pitching staff is led by Chase Pair, who holds the fourth-lowest earned run average (2.64) in the conference. Two of his four starts on the season occurred against Northeastern State, tossing all 16 possible innings and allowing only four runs with seven strikeouts and three walks. As a team, the Lions have the third-highest ERA (7.41) in the league and are 12th in strikeouts (235).
