KEARNEY, Neb. --
Sam Maceli took the lead among individuals at the MIAA Women's Golf Championships, while Northeastern State dropped to ninth on the team rankings after the second round of action from Meadowlark Hills Golf Course.
Maceli shot a 76, tied for the second-lowest score on the round, to enter the concluding round Tuesday with a 153 (77-76) and a one-stroke lead in the tournament rankings. The senior is tied for third among individuals in pars (21) and is the event's top performance on par 4s by two strokes.

Scott Varner said of Maceli's strong effort so far, adding that tomorrow she "has a chance to leave a personal legacy."
As a team, NSU fell back to ninth with a 327 on the afternoon. The RiverHawks exit the second round with a score of 650 (323-327).
Jessica Parker is the team's top performer at the event behind Maceli, with a score of 166 (84-82).
Laia Llorens holds a 168 (83-85), while
Ines Diaz is an additional stroke back at 169 (79-90).
Fernanda Rendon Bermudez had a six-stroke improvement from the opening round with an 84 on day two, giving her a 174 (90-84) after two.
"Wind conditions have made scoring excessively high for all teams," Varner said, mentioning that "[on Tuesday] we will literally have to play lights out and rally like crazy."
The MIAA Championships conclude Tuesday with the third and final round.
