TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Arkansas-Fort Smith scored four runs in the 10th inning to pull away for a 15-11 win over Northeastern State on Tuesday evening.
The Lions trailed 10-8 entering the eighth but outscored the RiverHawks 7-1 over the final three innings to take the three-game series.
Mason Ruiz tied the game in the ninth with a sacrifice fly, but UAFS responded with four runs in the 10th to secure the victory.
Both teams recorded 16 hits. Gage Williams went 4-for-6 for NSU and hit a grand slam in the second inning. Colton Ayres added three hits, while Diego Murillo and Austin Rees each had two hits and two RBI.
Holden Yaksick (1-5) took the loss, pitching the final two innings and starting the 10th.
Northeastern State (12-28, 9-17 MIAA) returns to action Thursday, hosting Emporia State at 5 p.m.
