Late Errors Spoil RiverHawks on Senior Day

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — A pair of seventh-inning errors allowed No. 14 Rogers State to complete a doubleheader sweep of Northeastern State with a 6-1 win Saturday at RiverHawks Park.

Northeastern State scattered five hits, with Madison Heinle driving in the RiverHawks' lone run in her final home game. Heinle also recorded the final two outs in the seventh, striking out back-to-back batters to bring her career total to 303.

The game remained scoreless until the fourth inning, when Heinle hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring home Maddie Messenger from third. Rogers State tied the game in the fifth after a leadoff single led to a run on an infield hit to shortstop.

The Hillcats broke the tie in the seventh, taking advantage of two infield errors to score five unearned runs.

Korynn Tindel (2-8) struck out three over 6 1/3 innings for Northeastern State.

Rogers State collected 10 hits, stole four bases and improved to 35-12 overall and 16-8 in MIAA play.

The RiverHawks finished the season with a 15-33 record, including an 8-16 mark in conference action.
