Williams Leads Trio of RiverHawks Earning All-MIAA Baseball Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Gage Williams led a trio of Northeastern State players recognized with All-MIAA baseball honors Tuesday, as the conference announced its postseason awards ahead of the tournament in Joplin.

Williams was named to the All-MIAA Second Team at catcher. Despite missing 16 games, the Sapulpa, Oklahoma, native hit 10 home runs and led the RiverHawks with a .373 batting average. He reached base in 13 consecutive games and recorded 12 multi-hit performances. It marks the second straight year Williams has earned All-MIAA honors, and the fourth consecutive season a Northeastern State catcher has received a postseason award.

Diego Murillo received honorable mention from MIAA coaches after leading NSU with 19 multi-hit games. He was the only player to start and appear in all 50 contests this season.

Colton Ayres also earned honorable mention recognition. He finished second on the team with a .340 batting average and tied for the team lead with 12 stolen bases during the regular season.

Northeastern State will open MIAA Tournament play Wednesday at 1 p.m. against Washburn.
