Men's Basketball earns fourth straight NABC Team Academic Excellence Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the fourth consecutive season, Northeastern State University student-athletes were named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court Thursday. RiverHawks that were among the honorees included Koen Derry, Caison Hartloff, Jaxon Jones, Trey Phipps, Bryson Smith, and Taven Washington.

The program earned the NABC Team Excellence Award for the third consecutive season with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Northeastern State was tied for most student-athletes recognized among the six MIAA schools with individual recipients. Washburn matched NSU with six, while Fort Hays State, Central Oklahoma, Nebraska Kearney and Northwest Missouri each had two. 

To be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior academically and a varsity player; earn a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2024-25 academic year; must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution; and the institution must be a member of NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA with an NABC member coach.
