TYLER, Texas (AP) — Lillian Meeks scored late but Northeastern State couldn't overcome an early deficit in a 2-1 loss to UT Tyler on Saturday at the Citizens First Bank–Perkins Soccer Complex.
The Patriots (3-0-0) struck first in the 13th minute when Natalie Jones finished off a feed from Brooke Mullins. Ella Anderson doubled the advantage in the 66th minute, converting a setup from Marin Love and Quinn Wolfe.
Meeks pulled the RiverHawks (3-1-0) within one in the 88th minute with her first goal of the season, but UT Tyler's defense held firm in the closing minutes.
Northeastern State goalkeeper Rebecca Partyka made four first-half saves to keep her team close. The RiverHawks managed just five shots, while the Patriots fired 16 attempts and put eight on target.
The RiverHawks head to Ada on Thursday afternoon to close out a three-match road trip to see East Central at 5 p.m.
