RiverHawks force draw with Patriots in 1-1 effort Saturday night

TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State found a counter to a first half Dallas Baptist goal to begin the closing period of action, but both offenses would remain shut out in a 1-1 draw on Saturday evening at DeLoache Field.

The RiverHawks (3-1-2) saw their offensive efforts largely stifled in the opening half, being limited to a single shot. The Patriots (3-1-1) would find a make in the 45th minute off a corner kick, converting with three seconds left in the half to enter the break with a 1-0 lead.

NSU would immediately strike, connecting off a Carter Adams goal in 39 seconds into the 46th minute to create an even score. Assisting Adams was Marco Cornelio, who has now been involved in a score in the first two home matches of his collegiate playing career. The defenses would stand tall the rest of the way to force the three draw across four matches in the all-time series.

The Patriots would outshoot the RiverHawks across the night (12-to-7), sending three shots on-goal in the direction of Cameron McColloch, who finished with two saves.

The RiverHawks open conference play on the road, facing Fort Hays State on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
