Partyka reaches 200 saves, assists on late equalizer in NSU draw

TAHLEQUAH -- Rebecca Partyka turned her 200th career save into a night to remember. The Northeastern State goalkeeper not only denied a penalty kick but also tallied an assist on a late equalizer as the RiverHawks snapped a nine-game series skid in a 1-1 draw with No. 10-ranked Central Missouri on Friday at DeLoache Field.

Central Missouri (3-2-2, 0-0-1 MIAA) grabbed an early lead in the ninth minute when Mikayla Ernst converted off a feed from Kate Ricker. But Partyka, already on pace for a milestone, kept NSU (5-1-1, 0-0-1) alive.

Her biggest moment came in the 59th minute, when she dove to her right to deny Ernst from the penalty spot.

Partyka wasn't finished. In the 88th minute, she booted a free kick deep into Central Missouri territory, where Brynn Baldon hammered home the equalizer for her second goal of the season. It marked the first assist by a Northeastern State goalkeeper since Meg Smith in 2017.

Partyka finished with three saves, while Central Missouri's Kristen Wright stopped four shots.

The RiverHawks remain at home to host Northwest Missouri at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
