BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. -- Northeastern State opened its season with a 654 (330-324) over two rounds at the Central Region Preview, finishing 17th.

The RiverHawks improved by six strokes in the second round at Adams Pointe Golf Club, with freshman Talya Samy leading the team in her debut. She placed 33rd with a 155 (77-78).

Maria Ruiz carded the team's low round Tuesday with a 75 and finished 41st overall at 156.

Laia Llorens shot a 168 (86-82), Kanynn Kaseca posted a 175 (86-89), and Laci Fravert finished with a 179 (86-93).

Northeastern State returns to action Monday, Sept. 8, when it hosts the 25th Women's Golf Classic at Page Belcher Golf Club in Tulsa.
