Adams’ Late Strike Lifts RiverHawks to 1-1 Draw at Drury

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Carter Adams buried an equalizer in the 80th minute to help Northeastern State earn a 1-1 draw against Drury on Thursday night at Harrison Stadium.

Adams, a sophomore forward, scored his first career goal off an assist from Martin Martinez, leveling the RiverHawks after Drury's Joe Loughnane converted a penalty kick in the 29th minute.

Northeastern State (0-0-1) held a 13-9 edge in shots, forcing Panthers goalkeeper Camden Meyer into six saves. The RiverHawks pushed hard in the second half with eight attempts and six corner kicks, finally breaking through after Drury (0-0-1) went down a man in the 50th minute when Mason Platts was sent off with a red card.

NSU goalkeeper Cameron McColloch made one save in 90 minutes of action.

The RiverHawks return to action Saturday when they travel to Jefferson City, Missouri, to face Lincoln for the first time.
