RiverHawks Open Seven-Game Homestand Against Truman State

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State returns home this weekend to begin a seven-game baseball homestand, opening with Truman State on Friday.

The RiverHawks are riding momentum after a thrilling 12-11 extra-inning victory over Northwestern Oklahoma on Tuesday. Truman State, meanwhile, opens its 2024 campaign in Tahlequah.

Weather has reshaped the weekend schedule. A doubleheader will now be played Friday beginning at noon, followed by a second doubleheader Sunday starting at 1 p.m. No games are scheduled for Saturday.

NSU's non-conference midweek matchup at Southern Nazarene next week has already been canceled. The RiverHawks will instead turn their focus directly to their MIAA opener against Central Missouri next weekend.

Truman State was picked 14th in the preseason Great Lakes Valley Conference coaches poll after finishing 12-35 (9-23 GLVC) last season. The Bulldogs struggled on the road, winning just three of 28 games away from home. Their last victory in Oklahoma came during the shortened 2020 COVID season against Northwestern Oklahoma.

Klete Finley leads NSU (3-2) at the plate, batting .500 through five games with 11 runs scored and three doubles. The RiverHawks hold a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series with Truman State, having hosted the Bulldogs once during their final season as members of the MIAA.
