TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Northeastern State dropped an 8-3 decision to Harding on Saturday afternoon at the Anthis Brennan Sports Complex.
The RiverHawks moved to 7-5 on the season after Harding scored four runs in the opening inning and added two more in the third to take control early.
Harding (5-6) used three hits and took advantage of an error to build a 4-0 lead in the first. The Bison added two runs in the third on an RBI single and a sacrifice fly to extend the margin to 6-0.
NSU got on the board in the third inning. After reaching on an error, Emily Carpenter came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Korynn Tindel to cut the deficit to 6-1.
Madison Nance highlighted the RiverHawks' offense in the fourth, blasting a solo home run to right field to make it 6-2. Nance finished 1-for-1 with two walks and an RBI.
Harding added two unearned runs in the seventh before NSU plated its final run in the bottom half of the inning. Mattison Hamilton singled, advanced on a wild pitch and later stole third before scoring during a rundown following a caught stealing attempt to account for the final 8-3 margin.
Mia Sarwinski led the RiverHawks at the plate with two hits, while Peyton Watson added a double. NSU recorded six hits in the contest.
Aubree Saporito (0-1) took the loss, allowing six runs — four earned — on eight hits over six innings. Tindel worked the final inning in relief.
Harding finished with eight hits, while NSU committed two errors in the game.
