RICHARDSON, Texas -- Northeastern State claimed four singles victories Friday afternoon to defeat UT Dallas, 4-2, at the UTD Tennis Courts.
The RiverHawks improved to 1-2 on the season, earning their first dual win of the spring, while the Comets fell to 0-4.
Doubles play went unfinished, shifting the focus to singles competition where Northeastern State secured wins at the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 positions.
Renata Morales gave NSU its first point of the afternoon with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles over Presley Churchman.
Carla Alvarez Perez followed with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 6 to extend the RiverHawks' advantage.
Daisy Barrow added a key point at No. 3 singles, rallying for a three-set win over Reika Nagai, 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4.
Laura Mertens clinched the match at No. 4 singles, outlasting Namrata Makhija in a tightly contested three-set battle, 6-7 (8-10), 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.
