RiverHawks Open Home Tennis Slate This Week

TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State opens its home tennis schedule this week, with the women's team hosting Henderson State on Tuesday before both programs welcome Oklahoma Wesleyan on Wednesday.

First serve against Henderson State is set for noon. The RiverHawk women (2-2) return home after sweeping a pair of matches in Texas more than a week ago. True freshman Laura Mertens has been flawless in singles play, winning all four of her matches this spring. Daisy Barrow sits at 2-2 in singles competition and picked up two doubles victories during last week's Texas trip.

Henderson State enters at 2-1 on the season and will face John Brown in Siloam Springs before traveling to Tahlequah. Northeastern State leads the all-time series 7-2 over the Reddies.

On Wednesday, both NSU programs take on Oklahoma Wesleyan. The women begin at 11 a.m., followed by the men's home opener at 2 p.m.

The RiverHawk men (2-2) also earned two wins during their Texas swing. James Edley won all four of his matches and was named MIAA Athlete of the Week, marking the program's first conference weekly honor in the modern era.
