Women's Tennis Rolls Past Oklahoma Wesleyan 7-0

TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State delivered its most dominant performance of the season on Wednesday morning, sweeping Oklahoma Wesleyan 7-0 at the NSU Tennis Courts for its first clean sweep of the year and fourth consecutive win.

The RiverHawks (4-2) set the tone early in doubles play and never looked back, winning two of three matches to claim the opening point before rolling through singles in straight sets across the board.

After dropping a tight decision at No. 1 doubles, the duo of Lucia Bontempo and Sofia Kotliarova evened things up with a 6-2 win at No. 2. Camila de Michele and Laura Mertens followed with a 6-3 victory at No. 3 to secure the doubles point for NSU.

In singles action, the RiverHawks flexed their depth.

Renata Morales cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, while Kotliarova handled her match at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-3 decision. Daisy Barrow was dominant at No. 3, posting a 6-0, 6-2 victory.

Laura Mertens added a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4, and Bontempo secured a straight-sets victory at No. 5. Carla Alvarez Perez capped the sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at No. 6 to complete the 7-0 shutout.

Northeastern State returns to action Friday, traveling to Edmond, Oklahoma, for a neutral-site matchup against CSU-Pueblo.
