EDMOND, Okla. — Northeastern State kept the brooms out Friday.
Northeastern State posted its second straight match sweep and extended its winning streak to five with a 7-0 victory over CSU Pueblo at a neutral-site matchup at Edmond Center Court.
The RiverHawks (5-2) have now won five in a row — their longest streak since 2019 — and didn't drop a single set in completed matches.
NSU grabbed the early momentum in doubles play.
Daisy Barrow and
Renata Morales secured a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles, while
Sofia Kotliarova and
Lucia Bontempo cruised to a 6-0 victory at No. 2. The No. 3 doubles point was awarded by walkover, giving the RiverHawks a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
From there, it was all Northeastern State.
Renata Morales handled Margot Aebischer 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, and Kotliarova followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2. Barrow dominated 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3, while
Laura Mertens rolled 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4.
Lucia Bontempo added a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 5, and the No. 6 singles point was also decided by walkover.
The RiverHawks' depth and consistency were on full display, as they controlled the match from start to finish without allowing CSU Pueblo (0-6) to gain traction.
Northeastern State will look to keep the streak alive March 3 when it travels to face Rockhurst.
