JOPLIN, Mo. -- Northeastern State was limited to one hit Friday in an 11-1 loss to Missouri Southern State at Warren Turner Field.
The RiverHawks (4-12, 0-6 MIAA) were held hitless through five innings before
Chance Pair delivered the lone bright spot, launching a solo home run in the sixth inning. Pair accounted for NSU's only hit and RBI of the contest.
Missouri Southern (8-7) wasted little time taking control. Brayden Luikart opened the bottom of the first with a solo home run, and the Lions added two runs in the second before breaking the game open with a five-run third inning. Four of the five runs in the third were unearned, as the Lions capitalized on two Northeastern State errors.
NSU struck out 12 times against three Missouri Southern pitchers. Starter
Izac Sizemore (0-2) took the loss, allowing three runs in one inning of work.
The RiverHawks return to action March 3 at Oklahoma Baptist.
