TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State used a pair of late-inning rallies to secure a 5-3 victory over Missouri S&T on Saturday afternoon at Tahlequah, improving to 11-7 overall.
The Miners struck first with an unearned run in the opening inning, but the RiverHawks answered in the bottom of the second.
Annsleigh Morris delivered a two-out RBI single through the left side to plate
Peyton Watson and even the score at 1-1.
After Missouri S&T regained a 2-1 lead in the fourth, NSU responded in the fifth with a pivotal two-run frame.
Mattison Hamilton tripled to right field to spark the rally before
Korynn Tindel followed with a triple of her own, driving in Hamilton and later scoring on a defensive miscue to give the RiverHawks a 3-2 advantage.
The Miners tied the game in the sixth on a solo home run, but Northeastern State quickly regained control in the bottom half.
Ashlynn Turner opened the inning with a double, and Morris reached on a bunt single and stole second to put two runners in scoring position.
Emily Carpenter then delivered the decisive blow with a two-run double to left, pushing NSU in front 5-3.
Jensyn Elder earned the win in the circle, tossing 6.0 innings and allowing three runs (two earned) while striking out five. Tindel recorded the save with a scoreless seventh inning.
Northeastern State totaled 11 hits in the contest, highlighted by three-hit performances from
Madison Nance and Morris.
