RiverHawks to meet Hillsdale and No. 1 UT Tyler this weekend

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Northeastern State will face a high-caliber doubleheader test Saturday as the RiverHawks take on Hillsdale College and No. 1 UT Tyler, the defending NCAA Division II national champions.

NSU (4-0) opened its season with four straight wins—its best start since 2012—including a statement 5-3 victory over then-No. 6 North Georgia. The RiverHawks have been aggressive on the basepaths and in the gaps, tallying 21 stolen bases and 14 doubles across their first six games. Junior infielder Korynn Tindel was named MIAA Player of the Week after batting .643 with five doubles, eight RBIs, and eight runs scored during the opening weekend.

The RiverHawks will face Hillsdale (0-0) at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Chargers were picked third in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll after a 39-win season and G-MAC Tournament title in 2025.

In the afternoon matchups, NSU meets UT Tyler (3-3)—the two-time defending NCAA Division II national champions and current No. 1 team in the NFCA/GoRout Top 25 Coaches Poll—at 3 p.m. both days.
