Box Score TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State clinched their seventh straight win in women's tennis by defeating Arkansas Tech in a 6-1 result Tuesday.

The RiverHawks (7-2) claimed the early advantage with the doubles point after a pair of victories in team play. In singles competition, the hosts would clinch over the Golden Suns (6-4) behind a trio of wins in straight sets from Daisy Barrow, Laura Mertens and Lucia Bontempo. Meanwhile, Renata Morales overcame early struggles to piece together a gritty three-set comeback win in No. 1 singles competition. Carla Alvarez Perez also overcame an opening set defeat to snag a come-from-behind singles win in No. 5 action.

"Good, solid team win for us today," head tennis coach Tim McLane said. "Arkansas Tech is always a tough matchup for us because they do some things style-wise that we don't like playing against, but I thought we did a great job of listening and making adjustments in the middle of sets and that was a big positive for us."

The win marks NSU's first against the Golden Suns since 2022 and clinches the team's second 4-0 start at home in the span of three seasons. Overall, the Tuesday triumph continues NSU's longest winning streak for women's tennis since 2018.

The RiverHawks return to the court with a road meeting in Searcy, Ark. against Harding on Saturday at 1 p.m.
