BOLIVAR, Mo. -- Northeastern State placed fourth at the Midwest Intercollegiate Invitational, highlighted by a pair of top-10 finishes from
Talya Samir and
Jessica Parker.
Samir fired the team's low round of the tournament with a 1-over 73 in Wednesday's final round, vaulting into a tie for 10th at 162 (+18). The finish marked her first career top-10 showing.
Parker continued her strong spring campaign, carding rounds of 76 and 79 to finish tied for fifth at 155 (+11), securing her second consecutive top-10 finish.
As a team, the RiverHawks posted rounds of 331 and 330 to finish at 661 (+85), four strokes clear of fifth-place Missouri Western.
Laia Llorens added a tie for 21st (167, +23), while
Kanynn Kaseca (177, +33) and
Laci Fravert (188, +44) rounded out the lineup.
"We've competed better and beat teams we haven't been beating," said head coach
Scott Varner. "Kudos to Jess (Parker) for a top-five finish after placing eighth in our last event. Scoring was high overall for the entire field."
Northeastern State will return to action March 23-24 at the Hardscrabble Invitational in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
