EDMOND, Okla. --
Jessica Parker made her season debut count Monday, helping Northeastern State post the third-most birdies in the opening round of the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invitational at Kickingbird Golf Club.
The RiverHawks recorded nine birdies as a team on the par-70 layout and finished the day with a 308, placing eighth overall after 18 holes in the 54-hole event. The tournament concludes on Tuesday with the final round.
Parker, competing for the first time this season, carded a 4-over 74 to tie for ninth individually. Her steady round helped anchor a Northeastern State lineup that featured two players inside the top 10 after the opening day.
Laia Llorens led the way for the RiverHawks with a 2-over 72 and was tied for third, sitting two shots off the lead.
Talya Samir and
Kanynn Kaseca each turned in rounds of 81, while
Laci Fravert posted an 86 to round out the scoring.
Southwestern Oklahoma State set the team pace with a 291, followed by Central Oklahoma at 297 and Nebraska Kearney at 302.
