TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Northeastern State dropped its series opener to Missouri Western State, falling 14-2 in an eight-inning MIAA contest Friday at Rousey Field.
The RiverHawks (8-18, 3-11 MIAA) collected eight hits but were unable to keep pace with a Missouri Western lineup that scored in six of eight innings. NSU broke through in the second inning when
Jackson Dillingham drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, trimming an early deficit.
Dillingham delivered again in the fourth, launching a solo home run to left field for his fifth of the season and second in as many games. He finished 2-for-3 with two RBI, accounting for both Northeastern State runs.
Chance Pair added a pair of hits, while
Klete Finley,
Jaxon Gregory, and
Alex Nirider each recorded one hit.
On the mound,
Bryce Parlin (1-4) took the loss, allowing six runs — three earned — over three innings.
Jackson Hill,
Parker Allen, and
Trout He combined in relief.
Missouri Western tallied 18 hits in the game, led by a four-hit performance from Micah Kobuszewski.
The RiverHawks will look to bounce back as the series continues Saturday at 2 p.m. in Tahlequah.
