TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 42 Harding on Saturday at the David Elliott Tennis Complex.
The RiverHawks (3-6, 0-2 MIAA/GAC) secured an early win in doubles play, highlighted by a 6-2 win at the No. 3 position from Tomas Aramburu and Ko Osuga. However, Harding claimed the doubles point by winning the remaining two matches.
In singles action, Northeastern State picked up two victories. Alexander Edley earned a straight-sets win at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 6-3, while Baptiste Linet added another point with a hard-fought victory at No. 5, winning in a tiebreak second set.
Harding (9-4, 2-0 MIAA/GAC) controlled the remainder of singles play, including a three-set battle at No. 3 where Mansur Khajimuradov fell in a tightly contested match. The Bison also captured wins at the top, fourth and sixth positions to clinch the team victory.
The RiverHawks will return home for their next match on March 26, when they host Southeastern Oklahoma.
