TAHLEQUAH --
Mattison Hamilton hit an inside-the-park home run, and
Emily Carpenter connected with her second homer in as many days in a 13-3 loss to Central Oklahoma to wrap up the week.
The RiverHawks (20-13, 7-5 MIAA) fell behind early after surrendering a run in the top of the first inning, but Hamilton's home run was the team's equalizing response in the bottom half. NSU would respond again after UCO (27-8, 5-3 MIAA) planted two across the plate in the top of the third, homering with Carpenter to cut the advantage to one score.
The Bronchos followed with five unanswered. After
Peyton Watson's RBI single in the sixth, UCO pushed the lead to 10 with a five-run performance in the top of the seventh.
The visitors logged 12 base hits and never struck out against the hosts. Aubree Saporito started and pitched two innings before
Gracie Turner tossed two herself.
Brooke Wyatt finished the last three in the loss. The RiverHawks had five base hits, including two from
Mia Sarwinski.
Northeastern State travels to begin April, facing Central Missouri in Warrensburg for a doubleheader on Friday.
