Varner adds Albuja, Friesenhahn to Men’s Golf Program

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — The Northeastern State men's golf program announced the addition of two student-athletes to its roster with the signing of David Albuja and Caleb Friesenhahn. The pair brings a combination of international experience and collegiate success to the RiverHawks program.

Albuja joins Northeastern State as one of the top junior golfers in Ecuador. He is currently ranked No. 2 among juniors in Ecuador and holds a World Amateur Golf Ranking of No. 1013 .

Albuja has competed in numerous international events and has consistently posted under-par rounds in major amateur tournaments. He recently placed fourth at the AJGA South American Championship, one of the premier junior events in the region.  In another recent performance, Albuja finished 3-under-par across three rounds at a South American Amateur qualifier, continuing a stretch of strong outings in international competition.

Albuja also has familiarity with current RiverHawks players Mateo Castro and Juan Vergel, as the trio competed against each other in several junior events across South America while representing neighboring countries Ecuador and Colombia.
 

Caleb Friesenhahn

Friesenhahn transfers to Northeastern State from McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas, where he is currently a sophomore and a regular contributor in the lineup for a Top-10 junior college program.

Before McLennan, Friesenhahn competed at Oklahoma Wesleyan, where he earned Freshman of the Year honors in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference during his debut collegiate season.

A native of New Braunfels, Texas, Friesenhahn was also a standout multi-sport athlete in high school, earning All-District honors in football while competing in golf.
