TAHLEQUAH -- Northeastern State women's tennis will make its final regular-season road trip, visiting Central Oklahoma on Thursday and Newman on Saturday.
The RiverHawks (10-6, 3-2 MIAA) are vying for a spot in the MIAA postseason tournament, with the top six teams advancing. Northeastern State is currently fifth in the standings, holding a 1.5-match lead over Nebraska-Kearney, the first team outside the top six. The doubles pairing of
Renata Morales and
Daisy Barrow is ranked No. 26 nationally and has won its last five matches.
Central Oklahoma (12-3, 4-1 MIAA) is 4-3 in its past seven matches and 6-1 at home this season. Northeastern State leads the all-time series 26-11, though the Bronchos have won the last two meetings.
Newman (0-5, 0-5 MIAA) will discontinue its program following the season, making Saturday's match its final home contest. The Jets have played only their MIAA schedule this spring and have been limited to four players in each of their last two matches. With Newman limited to five players, court six in singles is expected to be a walkover point for Northeastern State, while court three in doubles will be vacant.
The RiverHawks are 5-2 all-time against the Jets, including a 3-1 record in Wichita.
