Box Score TAHLEQUAH, Okla. —Northeastern State secured a 6-1 victory Saturday over Newman in MIAA women's tennis action.
The RiverHawks (11-7, 4-3 MIAA) battled through doubles competition, earning wins at No. 2 and No. 3 to claim the doubles point.
Lucia Bontempo and Sofiia Kotliarova picked up a 6-4 victory at No. 2, while Camila De Michele Garzon and
Laura Mertens added a win by default at No. 3.
Northeastern State carried that momentum into singles, winning five of six matches.
Daisy Barrow led the way with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1, and
Renata Morales followed with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 2. Kotliarova added a straight-sets win at No. 3, and Bontempo dominated at No. 5 with a 6-0, 6-2 performance.
The RiverHawks also received a point by default at No. 6 singles.
With the win, Northeastern State improved to 11-7 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
The RiverHawks will return home Wednesday to host Rockhurst, opening a three-match homestand to close out the regular season.
