Northeastern State hosts Fort Hays State in key MIAA series

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Northeastern State will close its home baseball schedule with a three-game series against Fort Hays State beginning Thursday, with the schedule adjusted due to the threat of inclement weather in the region.

A doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. Thursday, with the series finale scheduled for Friday at a time to be determined based on overnight rainfall.

The RiverHawks (14-28, 9-21 MIAA) enter the series tied in conference play with the visiting Tigers (14-29, 9-21), with the matchup helping determine the final seed for the MIAA postseason tournament in May. Northeastern State is coming off an 8-2 win over Central Oklahoma on Tuesday, completing its first series sweep of the season against the Bronchos.

Fort Hays State is coming off a 25-run loss to Emporia State on Tuesday. The Tigers are 5-17 on the road this season, allowing nearly nine runs per game, but have taken at least one game from ranked Central Missouri and Pittsburg State.

Northeastern State leads the all-time series 24-11, including a 13-2 record at home, though Fort Hays State has won five of the past six meetings.
