TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Northeastern State will make its first postseason appearance in 25 years on Wednesday morning, facing Washburn in the opening round of the MIAA/GAC Men's Tennis Tournament at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Missouri.
The RiverHawks enter as the No. 4 seed from the South Division and will take on North Division champion Washburn, the tournament's No. 1 seed. The two teams were scheduled to meet last weekend in Tahlequah, but the match was canceled due to weather and the potential for a postseason matchup.
Washburn brings a 10-match winning streak into the tournament after finishing 5-0 in North Division play.
Northeastern State went 6-10 overall and 2-3 in South Division competition during the regular season.
Alexander Edley enters the postseason in strong form, having won four consecutive singles matches. He holds a 10-5 record at No. 2 singles this spring and has also won four straight matches at No. 1 doubles.
The winner of Wednesday's match will advance to face either Northwest Missouri or Ouachita Baptist.
First serve is scheduled for 9 a.m.
