TAHLEQUAH — Northeastern State will make its lone regular-season trip to Edmond to face in-state rival Central Oklahoma at 2 p.m. Tuesday in continued MIAA action.
The RiverHawks (12-21, 7-14 MIAA), idle since last week, will look for a midweek series win over UCO. Northeastern State claimed a 5-3 victory at Rousey Field on March 24 in the series opener. All five runs for NSU came in the fourth inning, highlighted by a game-tying home run from
Alex Nirider.
Xavier Sanchez enters Tuesday's matchup on a seven-game hitting streak and has reached base in 15 consecutive contests.
Jaxon Gregory carries a nine-game hitting streak and leads the team with 31 RBI.
Central Oklahoma (17-18, 8-13 MIAA) dropped three of four games last week and is 14-9 at Wendell Simmons Field. The Bronchos are 36-9 all-time at home against NSU and have not lost consecutive home games in the series since 2000.
A win for Northeastern State would mark its first series victory over Central Oklahoma since 2021.
Following the trip to Edmond, the RiverHawks will return to Rousey Field to host a three-game series against Pittsburg State beginning Friday.
