GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Northeastern State battled through a competitive field Monday at the Palm Valley Classic, finishing the opening two rounds tied for 17th place at 4-over-par 580 on a par-72 course.
The RiverHawks posted rounds of 290-290 at Palm Valley, positioning themselves alongside Hawaii Pacific entering Tuesday's final round.
Northeastern State showed consistency across its lineup, led by
Ian Wilcoxen, who paced the RiverHawks with a 2-under-par 142 (70-72) to sit tied for 35th individually.
Nathan Biais followed at even-par 144 (72-72), placing tied for 51st.
Juan Vergel carded a 149 (73-76), while
Mateo Castro rebounded from an opening-round 80 with a 2-under 70 in the second round to finish at 150.
Carson Scrymgeour rounded out the lineup at 152 (75-77).
Chico State leads the team standings at 25-under-par 551, followed by Colorado State-Pueblo at 554. Individually, CSU Pueblo's Marius Dosiere holds the top spot at 11-under 133.
The RiverHawks will look to climb the leaderboard when they close out play in the final round Tuesday, with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m.
