BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- Northeastern State's Nathan Biais carded a 79 in Thursday's opening round of the NCAA Midwest/Central Regional at Katke Golf Club.

The junior showed flashes throughout the round with five birdies but struggled to maintain consistency, finishing over par on 10 holes.

Biais enters the second round in the back half of the leaderboard and will look to make a move Friday as he tees off in the final wave at 2:10 p.m.
