81 First-Year Student-Athletes and Newcomers placed on MIAA Academic Honor Roll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- 81 Northeastern State First-Year and Newcomer student-athletes earned academic accolades from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Tuesday as members of its Honor Roll, up from 58 the previous year.

Baseball led the way for a third straight season with 22 honorees, while softball added 18. Men's tennis finished with nine honorees in its first season since the program's revival. Student-Athletes must have at least a 3.0-grade point average to be eligible to be on the Association's Honor Roll.

NSU landed six on the Scholar Athlete list for having at least a 3.5 GPA and being named All-MIAA. Klete Finley (Baseball), Alexander Edley (Men's Tennis), Mansur Khajimuradov (Men's Tennis), Jensyn Elder (Softball), McKenzie Smith (Women's Basketball) and Renata Morales (Women's Tennis) earned recognitions.

Baptiste Linet (Men's Tennis), Tomas Aramburu (Men's Tennis), Morgan Coryell (Softball), Aubree Saporito (Softball), Addisyn Whiteley (Women's Basketball), Raylee Gaston (Women's Basketball), Talya Samir (Women's Golf), Carla Alvarez Perez (Women's Tennis) and Laura Mertens (Women's Tennis) were on the MIAA's Academic Excellence list for having a perfect 4.0 GPA.
