Northeastern State's Marvelous Owens earned an accolade from The CFBNetwork as a preseason All-American at defensive back.   

He is one of 28 named to the preseason list as one of the nation's top returning defenders.  Owens accumulated two All-American honors in 2026 and D2Football Elite 100 Honorable Mention.

For the NSU football program, Owens is the program's first All-American on defense since 2013 and the first defender to receive a First Team nod since 2010.  During a 9-3 season for the RiverHawks in 2025, he grabbed seven interceptions and 11 pass breakups. The senior recorded an interception in four consecutive mid-season games and posted a season-high four pass breakups against McKendree.  

The RiverHawks open their fall camp on Wednesday (August 5) as they gear up for their season opener on August 29 at home against Delta State.
