RICHARDSON, Texas -- Northeastern State rallied to tie the match in the second half, but Texas-Dallas answered five minutes later to defeat the RiverHawks 2-1 on Thursday in the final non-conference match of the season.
UT Dallas took a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute when Avery Brazzell scored.
Northeastern State evened the match in the 62nd minute when
Miguel Carrasquinho scored his first goal of the season. The RiverHawks had several opportunities to take the lead, but UT Dallas goalkeeper Ryder Claborn made saves on shots by
Ethan VanDusen,
Carter Adams and
Mason Winters.
The Comets regained the lead in the 67th minute when Osi Iyamah scored his fourth goal of the season.
Northeastern State finished with 16 shots, including six on goal, while UT Dallas had 13 shots and seven on goal.
Cameron McColloch made five saves for the RiverHawks.
The loss dropped Northeastern State to 1-4 on the season, while UT Dallas improved to 4-1-1.
Northeastern State opens GAC/MIAA play Sept. 17 at Newman.
