Women's Golf Tied for 9th in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. -- Northeastern State closed the first day of action at the NSU Women's Golf Classic in a tie for ninth place after finishing with a 322.

The RiverHawks are two strokes back from eighth-place Northwestern Oklahoma (320) and five from Southern Arkansas (317) in seventh, while their score was matched across day one by Dodge City CC and six strokes ahead of 11th-place William Jewell (328).

Suri Rocha was a bright spot, entering Tuesday tied for 10th among individual competitors with a 75. Her performance included three birdies and nine pars across 18 holes at Page Belcher Golf Course. Rocha is one stroke back from a seven-way tie for third place.

Savannah Du also had a strong showing in the opening round, recording a birdie on the fifth hole and finishing with a 79 to land in the top 30.

Talya Samir finished with a score of 82, while Laia Llorens finished with an 86 and Laci Fravert logged a 96.

The event, hosted by Northeastern State, concludes Tuesday with the second and final round of competition.
