TULSA, Okla. -- Northeastern State earned a tournament victory at its hosting event, claiming the team crown at the NSU Men's Golf Classic at Page Belcher Golf Course on Tuesday.

The RiverHawks held on late to claim the win over Northwestern Oklahoma, finishing with an 844 (277-277-290) compared to NWOSU's 845 (287-271-287). Ian Wilcoxen led NSU's individual efforts, tying for second with a 209 (68-68-73). 

Braden Prestwood climbed into the top 10 and finished in a tie for seventh with a 211 (71-73-67), tying for the second-lowest round across all competitors. Across Prestwood's final round included six birdies and an eagle on the ninth hole.

Will Livermore finished just outside of the top 10 with a 212 (67-68-77), tying for 11th. David Albuja collected a spot in the top 20 with a 216 (71-71-74). Juan Vergel rounded out NSU's efforts as a team with a 221 (75-70-76).

Bliss Newton led NSU's golfers competing as individuals with a 217 (70-73-74), tying for 24th on the leaderboard. Mateo Castro wasn't far behind, recording a 219 (71-73-75) to tie for 30th.

Jesse Tandoy finished with a 224 (75-70-79), while Carson Scrymegeour (70-75-80) and Caleb Friesenhahn (73-77-75) matched scores, both carding 225s.

The RiverHawks return to the course next week for the Holiday Inn Express Invitational in St. Joseph, Mo. on Sept. 28-29.
