Butch Rea

Butch Rea joined the NSU baseball coaching staff during the 2016-17 academic year following a four-year playing career.

In the Summer of 2018,  Rea was an Assistant Coach at Junction City Brigade, and won the Mid-Plains League Championship.

Rea played for the RiverHawks during the 2017 season and ended his career with a 33 game reached base streak and held a 25 game hitting streak during his senior campaign.  Rea was named MIAA Hitter of the Week and was the NCBWA Central Region Hitter of the Week after batting .579 (11-for-19) with eight runs scored, and ten RBI out of the NSU leadoff spot.

In the postseason, Rea was named All-MIAA, and was a MIAA Scholar-Athlete honoree.

Before joining NSU, Rea played at Central Arkansas, and Cowley County Community College.  At Cowley County CC, he helped the Tigers to a number-3 ranking, and a 54-5 overall record. 

Rea is the brother of Robbie Rea who worked on the NSU coaching staff from 2016-17.
