Philip Incaviglia is in his second season as a graduate assistant coach at Northeastern State University. He primarily coaches outfielders, hitters and base running.
The Monterey, California, native arrived in Tahlequah after competing collegiately at the University of Texas at Arlington. He played in 102 games and made 84 starts in his two seasons with the Mavericks (2011-12). He posted a career batting average of .237 (69-for-291) and added four doubles, 23 RBI and 21 stolen bases. While at UTA, he was recognized for outstanding academic achievement by a student-athlete. He helped lead the 2012 team to the Southland Conference Tournament Championship, while also helping the Mavericks in a berth in an NCAA Division I Regional.
Prior to his stint at UTA, Incaviglia competed for two years at Monterey Peninsula College (2009-10). He holds the single season record for doubles and triples at MPC and was named the team's defensive player of the year in 2010. He was also selected as an honorable mention on the All-Coast Pacific Conference team.
Incaviglia is the son of Kathleen and Tony. His father played for six seasons in Class AA of Minor League Baseball for both the Pittsburgh Pirates' and San Diego Padres' organizations. He has one older brother, Thomas, who attended the University of Texas at Austin and was part of the Longhorn team that won the 2005 NCAA Division I National Championship.
Incaviglia is the nephew of Pete Incaviglia, who played 12 seasons in Major League Baseball and also played collegiately at Oklahoma State University. In 1999, Pete was recognized by Baseball America as the NCAA College Player of the Century. He was also inducted into the Collegiate Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007. Pete currently holds five NCAA Division I records, which are single-season home runs (48), career home runs (100), single-season total bases (285), single-season slugging percentage (1.140), and single-season RBI (143). He is also in the top 10 all-time in numerous categories.
Incaviglia earned an Associate of Science degree in administration of justice from MPC in 2010. He then received a Bachelor of Art degree in interdisciplinary studies from UT Arlington in 2012. He is currently working toward a masters degree in health and kinesiology.
