Megan Burk enters her second year as the head athletic trainer of Northeastern State University athletics in 2024.
In this role, Burk covers the needs of every team in the athletics department by evaluating student-athletes, inputting notes and treating injuries. She covers all home games for all sports, in addition to all away football games.
Burk is also responsible for setting up physicals and SWAY testing, handling the paperwork and insurance information of student-athletes and keeping equipment clean and up-to-date.
Burk previously served as an assistant athletic trainer at Iowa Wesleyan University, beginning in 2022 and staying in that role until the university shut its doors in May 2023.
Her other work in the field has included assignments at the high school, junior college and university college levels, in addition to work in Minor League Baseball with the Burlington Bees.
From 2014-22, Burk worked at Great River Medical Center in Burlington, Iowa, while she also served as a lifeguard and swim instructor from 2014-18.
Burk is a certified and licensed athletic trainer in both Oklahoma and Iowa, with certifications in kinesio taping, graston and blood flow restriction therapy.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo. in 2018 and earned her Associate's Degree at Southeastern Community College in Burlington in 2016.
