Michael Allen enters his first season on the Northeastern State football coaching staff as the Special Teams Coordinator and Safeties Coach.
Allen brings more than a decade of coaching experience to Tahlequah, most recently serving as the head football coach at Olathe South High School in Kansas during the 2025 season. Allen led the Falcons to a two-win improvement over the previous year, also earning a playoff victory and finishing with a winning record in district play. Prior to Olathe South, Allen spent time at Blue Valley North as the Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Run Coordinator.
He previously coached linebackers at Texas Southern University after spending three seasons at Silsbee High School, where he served as the Associate Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator. While at Silsbee, Allen helped lead the Tigers to their deepest playoff run since 1977, advancing to the Class 4A Division II state semifinals in 2018.
Allen coached wide receivers and special teams at Cypress Ranch High School from 2014-15, helping the program reach the state championship game for the first time in school history in 2014, just its fifth year of varsity football. Allen began his high school coaching career at Livingston High School in 2013 as the Co-Defensive Coordinator and Special Teams Assistant.
Before entering the high school ranks, Allen spent two seasons as a defensive coordinator and special teams assistant with the NFL Players Association Collegiate Bowl staff under former NFL head coach and Super Bowl XXXIV champion Dick Vermeil.
Allen began his collegiate coaching career as a defensive graduate assistant at Lamar University in 2012 following a two-year playing career with the Cardinals. He also played at College of the Sequoias in California.
