Paul Lane is serving in his third season as the offensive coordinator of the RiverHawks. He is directly responsible for NSU’s offensive line after coaching the quarterbacks from 2012-13.
Lane’s offense averaged 374.1 yards per game and 23.1 points per game in 2012. He coached NSU’s first 1,000-yard rusher since 2005 (running back Joel Rockmore) and the first RiverHawk to be selected in the NFL draft since 1992 (offensive tackle Michael Bowie).
Lane, a 1994 graduate of NSU, was an NAIA Division I Football All-American in 1992 and helped lead Northeastern State to two Oklahoma Intercollegiate Conference Championships (1990-91).
He was a three-time all-conference performer and was a member of two NSU teams that qualified for the NAIA Division I Football National Championship.
His last coaching stop came at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where he spent four years from 2002-06 serving as both the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. He helped lead the Savage Storm to two Lone Star Conference North Division Championships (2004-05) and two conference runner-up finishes (2002-03).
Southeastern had the No. 1-ranked scoring offense in the LSC in both 2003 and ’04. The team was also No. 2 in total offense in the league both of those seasons, and the Storm had the No. 1-ranked turnover margin in Lane’s final year in 2005.
Lane was also the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Kilgore College from 1998-02. He was the O-line coach at Butler County Community College from 1996-98 following his stint at NSU as the O-line coach from 1993-96.
Lane received his Master of Science in college teaching from Northeastern State in August 1998. He also earned his Bachelor of Science in health & physical education from NSU in January 1994.
