Rob Castaneda enters his second season on the Northeastern State football coaching staff as an assistant offensive line coach.
He arrived in Tahlequah in 2023 after concluding his playing career in the Indoor Football League (IFL). Castenda spent time in the league with the Sioux Falls Storm (2018-19), Frisco Fighters (2021) and Vegas Knight Hawks (2022), notably playing on the Storm's 2019 IFL Championship team.Â
Castaneda played for Texas Tech from 2014-15, appearing in all 13 games on the offensive line for the Red Raiders in 2015. His lone season in the junior college ranks for Ellsworth CC (2016) saw him receive All-NJCAA honorable mention honors. The Round Rock, Tex. native finished up his collegiate career at Utah State (2017-18), where he started all 26 possible games and received a Third-Team All-MWCÂ nod from Phil Steele Magazine and an Honorable Mention selection from the league's coaches in 2018.
Previously, Castaneda had a successful high school playing career at Round Rock HS, where he was named the Texas 6A Region II District 13 Offensive Lineman of the Year as a prep senior.Â
