Former RiverHawk Michael Wilson is currently in his second season as a graduate assistant coach with the men’s soccer program.
In his first year as a graduate assistant, Wilson helped lead Northeastern State to a 13-5-3 mark with the school’s first appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
NSU broke the school record for least amount of goals allowed in a single season (20), while finishing runner up in its first season as members of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.
He also helped coach three All-Americans (Eric Crawford, Juan Peralta, Bo White), 10 All-MIAA performers and eight players who were named to all-region teams.
Wilson served as one of NSU’s starting central defenders from 2009-11. He played in 53 career games and made 51 career starts. He recorded three career goals and one assist for seven points.
Two of his goals came in one game, which was a 3-0 victory over Colorado State-Pueblo on Sept. 12, 2010. He scored the game-winning goal and also converted a penalty kick. He was named an Academic All-American that year.
He was also a two-time first-team All-Lone Star Conference performer (2009, 2011), and a two-time All-South Central Region first teamer (2009, 2011).
Wilson was named NSU's Male Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2011. He graduated from NSU in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, and he earned a masters degree at NSU in 2013 in health and kinesiology. He is currently working towards a second masters degree in school administration.
